Preparing Your Mouth for Porcelain Veneers

Posted .

Do you have an unsightly issue with the front of your teeth? Why not look at getting porcelain veneers? Veneers are tough, thin covers for your front teeth made of a ceramic material. They are very durable and hide any unsightly issues to improve your smile.

A healthy-looking smile adds to your attractiveness, confidence, and how you present yourself to others. So, anything that important should be considered a top priority. If you have abnormalities or damage to your teeth, porcelain veneers may just the thing for you. They are a natural-looking option that flawlessly cooperate your original teeth to hide any damage or imperfection. They are almost indistinguishable to others. And when properly cared for, these veneers will last for many decades.

How it Works:

The first thing that happens when preparing your teeth for porcelain veneers is the removal of a small portion of the surface enamel, grinding down the target teeth by one millimeter. Then a mold is made and sent to a dental laboratory in order to customize your veneers specifically for your mouth. Since it takes some time to make the mold, temporary covers will be placed on your teeth to protect them in the interim. When the mold is done, the dentist will cement the custom made covers to your teeth with a bond-like agent.
